Camp SummerSong is a joint effort of: The Girl Scout Council of Cumberland Valley Metro Nashville Board of Parks and Recreation Nashville's wonderful songwriting community

The Girl Scout Council of Cumberland Valley      Since Camp SummerSong's first session in 1996, the Girl Scouts have provided the campsite, much of the camp staff, and a wealth of knowledge and experience that comes from 90 years of creating outdoor programming for youth. The facility that the Girls Scouts provide for our program is Camp Holloway, a unique campsite that honors Josephine Holloway, leader of the first African-American Girl Scout troop in Tennessee. The Girls Scout Council's Board of Directors recently implemented a multi-million dollar upgrade to this camp, creating a state-of-the-art camping and performing/visual arts facility which opened in the summer of 2003. Updates include a new pool, 4 new troop houses, an amphitheater with professional sound and lighting, a delightfully terrifying climbing tower, and LOTS more!   Metro Nashville Board of Parks and Recreation   Metro Parks is a service of the Nashville city government whose purpose is to provide and maintain acreage and facilities in order to offer the most diversified recreational services possible. Their goal is to ensure that all citizens, regardless of income level have equal opportunity and choice of participation. Camp SummerSong shares this goal, and through our scholarship program (based on need, not on musical ability or academic achievement) any child can attend camp, regardless of their family's financial situation.   Camp Director - Kathy Hussey Kathy Hussey began her involvement with Camp SummerSong as a songwriting instructor at the first camp in 1996, and is looking forward to her seventh year of serving as Camp Director in the summer of 2005. She is a songwriter and performer, and has seven years experience working with the Girl Scout Council as a program consultant and facilitator.
